Become a Successful Amazon Affiliate

As you probably already know Amazon.com has one of the worlds' largest affiliate programs. Becoming an amazon affiliate grants you access to the best and worst products in any market. Whether it be TV's, play-stations, clothing, books, you name it, Amazon has it. This is great because you can base your internet business around almost anything and then find related products to sell as an amazon affiliate. However there are some things to take into consideration when choosing products to promote. Listed here are some guidelines any amazon affiliate should familiarize themselves with.

1. Only promote products that are relevant or compliment your internet business of choice. For example, if you are an amazon affiliate who owns a content based web site about guitars, you will want to promote guitar related products. You could expand your scope by talking about music that inspires you and suggestively sell c.d.'s or music related apparel. Just make sure it fits into your overall theme.

2. Don't choose products based solely on the fact that they have a higher commission rate than others. Many times there is a reason for this. The product vendor knows their product isn't the greatest so to entice an amazon affiliate into promoting their product they will offer a higher commission. If you truly believe and stand by the product then by all means go for it. Just remember, promoting worthless products is a sure fire way to ruin your amazon affiliate business.

3. Always buy any product for yourself first. This is the most important rule for any amazon affiliate to remember. Reason being; to really sell something you need to be familiar with its advantages and disadvantages. As an amazon affiliate you can buy the product through your own link and give your self the commission. If you like it promote it. If you don't, sell it on ebay. 4. If you are looking to promote products using direct linking from a pay per click engine like google adwords then the realm of products you can choose from is much larger. If you can write good ads that get the click you can lead the visitor to any product you want. Be careful though. Many amazon affiliates fail at using ppc advertising not because they can't write convincing ads but because they just aren't promoting the right products to that particular market. To effectively use ppc advertising as an amazon affiliate you will need to do some serious research and keyword analysis. Before you promote a product under a certain keyword do a search for that keyword at google. Click on all of the results you see on the first page. What are they promoting? Use your judgement. If your product doesn't seem to fit within the results listed on the first page then forget it. Also, if other amazon affiliates are already promoting the product then the competition may be to great to really make it worth your while.
