A Complete Newbie "How To" For Earning Money Online...

You sit in front of your computer - a budding entrepreneur - eager to make your fortune online as an Internet Marketer. Presuming that you know how to at least surf the Internet and search for information using Search Engines, how do you start to earn money online? This is one of the most frequently asked questions of those wanting to break into Internet Marketing. The answer is not always a simple one.

Now lets explore which type of program leads directly to successful Internet marketing online. Most beginning marketers have no one to take them by the hand and show them - step by step - how to find the easiest path to that first commission check. Without help from an experienced marketer, it takes a lot of time, money, and aggravation before one can see their first income. As the saying goes, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step." Let us take that first step together...

START AT THE BEGINNING

One can't harvest a crop without first planting a seed, patiently cultivating, watering and pruning, until at last it bears fruit. By the same token, you must choose a starting point for your online marketing efforts, and take everything one step at a time.

Most programs on the Internet today that are targeted to earning money can be divided into some very distinct categories. These are roughly as follow: Network Marketing & MLM opportunities, Traffic Generation Programs, and Affiliate programs.

Network Marketing and MLM Programs are (in general, at least) programs that sell a product or service that you must purchase yourself on a monthly basis to be eligible to earn commissions. In this way, your purchase each month provides a portion of the commission for the person who referred you to the business, and your commissions each month will come from the purchases of people you refer to the program.

This is, in my experience, as well as according to the advice of many experts in the field, not a good choice for someone who is new to Internet marketing. Why? Well, there is the matter of your monthly required purchase that is costing you money even before you refer one single person. Usually the commission percentage is low enough that you must refer at least two or three people (each making the required monthly purchase) to just break even on what you spend each month.

The biggest difficulty with this, is that you must be able to persuade others to spend their money each month for the required purchase, while, in the beginning, you probably lack the skills needed to get referrals quickly. As a result, you may struggle for several months before referring a single person willing to join you. Because of this, you can spend hundreds, or even thousands of dollars before turning a profit in this kind of program. Therefore, Network Marketing & MLM programs based on required monthly purchases are not something anyone would recommend to a person new to Internet Marketing.

THE FACTS ON TRAFFIC GENERATION PROGRAMS

Traffic Generation Programs are the programs that can actually get visitors (often called "traffic") to your website. No matter how beautiful your web site full of great products is, unless someone sees it, you will make no sales! On the Internet, web site traffic is the life-blood of sales. It is, therefore, essential to direct visitors to your site.

All traffic generation programs are not created equal, and the "quality" of the visitors is more important than the "quantity" of traffic. This is a subject that needs to be followed in much more detail in another article, but for now, we are more concerned with the value of traffic generation programs as sources of income generation.

There are very few traffic generation programs that actually generate a large percentage of income just through promoting them as a cash generation source. Though these programs are necessary for all marketers, and the traffic they generate are essential to the success of any Internet Marketer, most experts in Internet Marketing do not recommend more than five or six such programs to start with. Choose wisely as to the ratio between web sites (of other members) that you must visit to earn a visit to your web site in return. This is why these programs are often called Traffic Exchanges. Always try to find programs with a 1:1 or 3:2 ratio. You will earn more traffic with those programs more quickly, which is what you need when just getting started.

All but a few traffic generation programs are free to join with one or more options to upgrade. In the beginning, stick to the free version. You can worry about joining more such programs, or upgrading in the five or six programs you use, later when you have begun to earn an income.

Affiliate Programs - A Beginner's Dream

What is an affiliate program? A short definition is: A program in which you are paid a commission for selling another person's product. Research has shown this to be the easiest way to get a commission check for someone just starting out in Internet Marketing. The best items to sell are digital products that will appeal to other Internet Marketers. You never have to buy the product, store it, or handle it. The owner of the product handles all aspects except to promote it.

There are several good Affiliate programs available to choose from. The first that comes to mind is ClickBank. You are not required to pay any fees at any time. The products you will be selling all come complete with their own professionally built website. All you need is a way to get traffic to that site and, depending on the amount of traffic you drive to the site, you will be paid a set commission for each sale. This method of earning money online is preferred above all others because it has less to learn and remember when just starting. You will have your hands full just getting the visitors to the sales site. If you follow these recommendations, you will be using free traffic generation programs to drive traffic to the sales page of the chosen ClickBank (or other similar affiliate program)product. ClickBank usually pays between 50% and 75% commissions based on the purchase price paid for the product (minus the fees charged to the merchant who owns the product).

There you have the simple truth about what is best for those just getting started as Internet Marketers who are serious about making an income on the Internet. Now get out there and earn!

Learning About Search Engine Optimization

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results. Typically, the higher a site's "page rank" (i.e, the earlier it comes in the search results list), the more visitors it will receive from the search engine. SEO can also target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines.

As an Internet marketing strategy, SEO considers how search engines work and what people search for. Search engines look for sites that employ these techniques in order to remove them from their indices.

Webmasters and content providers began optimizing sites for search engines in the mid-1990s, as the first search engines were cataloging the early Web. Site owners started to recognize the value of having their sites highly ranked and visible in search engine results, creating an opportunity for both white hat and black hat SEO practitioners. Inaccurate, incomplete, and inconsistent data in meta tags caused pages to rank for irrelevant searches.[3] Web content providers also manipulated a number of attributes within the HTML source of a page in an attempt to rank well in search engines.[4]

To provide better results to their users, search engines had to adapt to ensure their results pages showed the most relevant search results, rather than unrelated pages stuffed with numerous keywords by unscrupulous webmasters. While graduate students at Stanford University, Larry Page and Sergey Brin developed "backrub", a search engine that relied on a mathematical algorithm to rate the prominence of web pages. Google headquarters

Page and Brin founded Google in 1998. Google says it ranks sites using more than 200 different signals.[8] The three leading search engines, Google, Yahoo and Microsoft's Live Search, do not disclose the algorithms they use to rank pages. Webmasters and search engines

By 1997 search engines recognized that webmasters were making efforts to rank well in their search engines, and that some webmasters were even manipulating their rankings in search results by stuffing pages with excessive or irrelevant keywords. Early search engines, such as Infoseek, adjusted their algorithms in an effort to prevent webmasters from manipulating rankings.[12]

Due to the high marketing value of targeted search results, there is potential for an adversarial relationship between search engines and SEOs. The leading search engines, Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft, use crawlers to find pages for their algorithmic search results. Pages that are linked from other search engine indexed pages do not need to be submitted because they are found automatically. Search engine crawlers may look at a number of different factors when crawling a site. Not every page is indexed by the search engines. Additionally, a page can be explicitly excluded from a search engine's database by using a meta tag specific to robots. When a search engine visits a site, the robots.txt located in the root directory is the first file crawled. Pages typically prevented from being crawled include login specific pages such as shopping carts and user-specific content such as search results from internal searches. In March 2007, Google warned webmasters that they should prevent indexing of internal search results because those pages are considered search spam.[28]

White hat versus black hat

SEO techniques can be classified into two broad categories: techniques that search engines recommend as part of good design, and those techniques of which search engines do not approve. The search engines attempt to minimize the effect of the latter, among them spamdexing. Black hat SEO attempts to improve rankings in ways that are disapproved of by the search engines, or involve deception.

The Secret to Getting Google Traffic - Keys to Expose Your Website Or Blog

While many people are spending countless hours on Google AdWords, a few savvy website owners have come across some other less expensive methods to achieve a massive amount of traffic from Google. Getting Google traffic is not rocket science, you just have to know the methods and be willing to apply them.

Below I am going to discuss three methods I use to get more traffic from Google. Some you may know of, some you may not have thought about.

1. You notice that in many of my articles I actually discuss article marketing as a terrific means of traffic generation along with search engine optimization. These two methods have stood the test of time for me personally, and I continue to believe they are the two best methods for traffic generation. What makes article marketing great is that it immediately gives you credibility with your audience, which cannot be said for SEO or PPC. However SEO is great also because of the great potential you have of getting Google traffic almost entirely free.

2. Post ads on eBay, Craigslist, and backpage to generate free website traffic. This is a method that people don't use much, because the majority of people with an online business or involved in internet or affiliate marketing do not realize that classified ads are often given high priority in search engines. So take advantage of this overlooked area.

3. Have you ever thought of using Google images to attract website traffic? This is one that not many people use, because they do not realize the potential. Millions of image searches are performed daily on Google, so it stands to reason that Google images is a great way of getting Google traffic.

The key to any online business is without a doubt traffic. Sure, their are many other important parts such as list-building, sending follow up emails, and things of that sort but the point is none of that can take place if you do not first get visitors to you website. I know many people worry about the costs associated with starting an online business, or just a website in general. However, traffic need not be something that you have to pay a lot of money for, it can actually be achieved with the only cost associated being time.

Most people think that getting free Google traffic is a near impossible task. They wonder how as internet newbies can they compete with such gigantic corporations with million dollar budgets. However, you must believe you can do this because everyone has to start somewhere, and for me that start was free Google traffic.

To get traffic from Google at no charge you need to be listed highly in the organic search results. These are the results that appear on the middle of the page, and the paid ads, or Google adwords appear on the far right side of the page. So how do you get listed high in the organic search terms? You need to publish fresh content on your website, blog, or in article directories. Just remember, the search engines will like you if you give them what they want: Fresh content, unique perspective, and constantly evolving website innovation. These are the main ideas you must focus on when trying to get as much free Google traffic as possible.
